Rafael De Paoli photo

Rafael De Paoli

Founder & CEO

 

Over 20 years of Investment Banking and Restructuring experience at bulge-bracket investment banks advising Fortune 500 executives and financial sponsors. Led over $55 billion in transactions across mergers & acquisitions, equity & debt capital markets, leveraged finance, and project finance.

 

Prior to founding FCL, Mr. De Paoli led a Global Banking team at HSBC, the 4th largest bank in the world (ex. China) with approximately $3 trillion in total assets. Mr. De Paoli managed a $5.5 billion debt portfolio. and led various global mandates in debt, equity, and M&A.

 

Before joining HSBC, Mr. De Paoli was the Global Head of the Special Opportunities Group at Aladdin Capital Management, a $15 billion hedge fund based in Stamford, CT. Mr. De Paoli also served as Head of Restructuring at Merrill Lynch Investment Banking in New York, where he advised distressed clients in high-profile transactions including debtor-in-possession financings, plans of reorganizations, 363 asset sales, distressed for control investments and out-of-court restructurings. 

 

Mr. De Paoli started his post-MBA career at GE Capital, where he was invited to join the selective Risk Management Leadership Program working in Capital Markets, Securitizations, and Restructuring.

Paulo Zottolo

Strategic Partner, Consumer & Retail

 

Former CEO of Philips Latin America and Nivea USA & Brazil with over 30 years of operational restructuring and M&A experience in the consumer sector.

 

Earlier in his career, Paulo was a Marketing Director for Tyco Europe where he was responsible for the company’s growth strategy in the continent including numerous acquisitions of B2B companies.

 

In 2011, moved to the U.S. where he founded and sold a successful startup in the beverage sector. Paulo built a solid reputation and differentiated career in the executive world by challenging the status quo, working hard and overcoming many challenges along the way.

Duncan Caird

Strategic Partner, Project Finance 

 

Highly experienced project finance and infrastructure banker with over 30 years of experience leading global advisory teams, and structuring debt & equity cross border transactions.

 

Former Co-Head of the Real Assets and Structured Finance Group, Americas for HSBC based in New York, where he has worked since 2006 in various leadership roles. Led a professional team of 50 banking and advisory professionals offering structured finance solutions to clients across the Americas, with team based in NY, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. Services included lending, advisory services (in both debt & M&A); ratings & structuring advice; renewables (tax equity, lending, acquisition financing, bridges, USPP); project, energy (O&G, RBL, power), offshore assets and infrastructure finance; capital call facilities; securitization; and trade finance.

 

His experience ranges across structuring and investing equity, mezzanine and senior debt in broader infrastructure sector, monitoring project delivery, as well as extensive public and private sector advisory. He was responsible for a $7 billion loan portfolio with associated risk management responsibilities.

 

Prior to HSBC, Duncan worked in London and New Zeeland with CIT Bank, Bank of America, MUFG and Westpac.
